Co-working, where people share a large office space with other companies or freelancers, has been around for more than a decade, but there are few places that offer space on the Upper West Side.
The Yard, which opened the only co-working space (that we know of) at 67th street and Columbus in 2014 is now expanding. The office at 67th street is doing quite well (we’re members), with offices full of people working in arts, finance, hospitality, media and several other fields. There are private offices, group offices and larger open spaces where people can work.
Before The Yard showed up, we’d heard from lots of people who were hankering for this kind of option — working from home can be, you know, a bit lonely.
The new space will be at 33 West 60th Street between Columbus and Broadway, just one block off Columbus Circle.
“The three-floor location will be an oasis among the bustle of Columbus Circle with entry on the second floor, additional work space on the top two penthouse floors and a 3,000 square foot roof exclusively for The Yard members overlooking the Time Warner Center and Central Park,” the Yard said in a release.
It’s set to open in December.
