Maybe if Donald Trump doesn’t win the presidency in 2016, he’ll run for NYC Mayor in 2017.

I’ll bet this stuff would slow down under a Mayor Trump.

Being mayor wouldn’t make a dent in Little Donald J. Drumpf’s yuuuge inferiority complex.

I’d rather have you as mayor than the buffoon that’s currently taking up space there

If I were mayor, every bar would be CBGBs and Danceteria, and my lazy artist friends would be subsidized to play there. It would be yuuuge

I take it you haven’t read that the City economy is actually THRIVING under DeBlasio?

of course De Blasio and Bratton have done a great job on crime. but that doesn’t stop a certain group from loudly complaining… because he ended the racial profiling form of stop and frisk.

i think maybe these people don’t care about crime, at the end of the day. they just want to have some sort of public expression of racial supremacy. truly sad.

So true, Bruce. It makes me not want to read the comments. The whining about De Blasio and Bratton abandoning stop-and-frisk ignores the facts that it was not helping reduce crime, was costing a fortune in lawsuits, and was banned by the courts. I guess that’s the kind of magical thinking that makes Mayor Trump the Savior Incarnate.

NOT TRUE. Or, not true. Stop, Question and possibly Frisk has now been proved to be effective in NYC. Now that it is gone, we are paying the price.

Why be snarky? Because he’s right? As if violating the civil rights of thousands was such an effective way of keeping crime down?

Crime is definitely on the rise.

CompStats (thus far to this year compared to last year):

Robbery: 24.9% increase
Fel. Assault: 10% increase
Burglary: 5.4% decrease
Rape: 31.6% increase
Gr. Larceny: 17.2% increase
GLA: 17% increase
(A lot of the grand larceny seems like bank frauds)
Petit Larceny: 43.3% increase
Misd Assault: 19.7% increase

But the good news!
Murder 0% increase

Also: https://compstat.nypdonline.org is very informative and just went online a couple of weeks ago

to Lucien: the crime statistics are indeed informative, but you should learn to READ them correctly. you were looking at one week, not the year-to-date.

here are the actual stats for 2016 year-to-date compared to the same period last year.

murder: down 30.2% (!)
rape: up 8.5%
robbery: down 1.4%
felony assualt: up 13.9%
burglary: -8.1%
Gr Larceny: up 4.2%
GL Auto: down 4.8%

total serious crime: up 2.5%

Shooting victims: down 11.7%
shooting incidents: down 19.3%

as you can see, crime is basically steady and murder down. it is early in the year, but i expect we will finish up about where we were last year.

the bottom line is that crime of all sorts is at the lowest level in NYC history, has stayed there or overall gotten lower during the MAyor’s term, and is way below where is was during the Giuliani era.

The NYT’s is a liberal rag, so you can’t believe anything in it. Wonder if the thugs were motivated by “trigger warnings” and would have refrained from this behavior if only there had been a “safe space” available.

People should be angry. there are a lot of justifiable reasons to be angry not the least of which are the twin curses that occupy high positions in dc and NYC. Nonetheless, the left as part of the grand scheme has politicized “anger” to make it appear that those who express anger, especially at the status quo as created by those aforementioned, are somehow unstable and or Dangerous.
