The scene of the crime.
A man was beaten up and thrown against a car on 74th street and Riverside Drive in broad daylight Friday, a witness told West Side Rag. Two men beat up the victim and stole his cell phone, said the witness, who had initially thought it might be “teens roughhousing” until she heard the “blood-curdling screams from the victim.”
“I was a witness and started screaming. It happened about 1:45ish and I saw 2 men with hoodies literally pummeling a guy on the steps there – blood everywhere. All this just to steal a cellphone. They also dented a black Toyota Prius in front of the bldg. during the beating. It was horrible and scary — and this in broad daylight.”
The attack occurred in front of 323 West 74th street.
Another tipster who showed up immediately afterward said the police response was delayed but that there may be surveillance video of the crime, as a nearby building had a camera.
We are awaiting more information from NYPD.

Really, why is daylight “broad”?
And, if so, why is there not also “narrow”? daylight?

What a truly cold hearted commentary about a harsh crime, who cares about the term broad daylight versus daylight? Guess the commentor does, geez what a Stoney heart. There’s a time for humor and not. Hope the victim is recovering and the attackers soon caught.
I was thinking the same thing about ScooterStan. Tacky and heartless. I’m sure he’ll sing a different tune if he’s ever the victim of a violent, unprovoked attack.

So if the unfortunate victim is recovering there ought to be general description other than two mammals in hoodies and you know what that means, appropriate profiling in the interests of safety of an informed neighborhood. So they are male; and — are they black, white, hispanic? C’mon NYPD and editorial staffs; be responsible. We need to know what we’re up against. Unreal.
Pc world doesn’t make everyone safe. Just tries to make people who are offended by everything feel warm and cozy for 15 minutes

Get a life! The use of “broad” in this context refers to full daylight as opposed to dawn, dusk or night time. It has no reference to women being referred to as “broads” – this is an entirely different issue. Be more concerned that this violent act took place in our neighborhood and that someone was attacked.

Although obviously ill-timed and ill-placed, I actually found Stan’s comment itself to be at least mildly apt and witty. The problem of course, was the insensitivity of posting such a comment in response to a disturbing story like this.
Still, I found Rob’s response to Scooter, in which he effectively wished death upon him, more offensive than Scooter’s comment.
If that is your interpretation then perhaps you might consider reading lessons.
