Vice President Joe Biden had dinner at Pomodoro on Columbus and 71st street on Saturday night before speaking at the Global Citizen concert in Central Park. Pomodoro, as devoted Seinfeld-watchers know, is where people go to break up with their boyfriends or girlfriends. Kramer famously helped a woman break up with George there in one episode.
Alex Goldklang, who shot the video below, yelled at Biden: “Please run! Please run!” It’s not sure if the vice president heard him, but he’s recently been adding more campaign staff.
The loudest speakers for a concert I have heard.
After listening to the concert for a while by the Reservoir, I went home and could still hear it in my Apt. on 92nd and CPW.
Cool!
I like their chicken parm.
I can never resist their pappa al pomodoro soup. It is served in a hollowed-out loaf of crisp, delicious bread.
My husband invariably chooses the goat-cheese chicken with wine sauce. It’s at the top of the entrées now. I opt every time for the filet of sole, though I’m told that the salmon entrée is even better.
The service is always gracious there, though it can be slow at times. I’m glad that Biden is giving them a little press.
UWS Democrats: how would you feel about Joe Biden as president? Is he preferable to Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton?
As a woman I’ll never vote for HRC as I feel like she has said/done/forgiven anything Bill did (or does) in hopes not divorcing him will pay off politically. In short I have no respect for her. She’s too much an insider and has too much baggage. Similar to another poster I’d give Biden or Bloomberg a very close ear – both can be non-partisan and reasonable and unmotivated by ill-thought-out PC-correct platforms
I pretty much agree with UWS-er. I’d have the easiest time voting for Biden. I thought HRC was a good Secretary of State, but on social issues I don’t think she’s a courageous leader. The DADT (don’t ask don’t tell) and DOMA (defense of marriage act) flip-flops rankle. She got to the right stance, but it took her 18 years? Plus I get sketched out by all the $65k speaking fees she, Bill, and Chelsea charge. It feels like she’s in this to make her family rich, and match her husband’s achievements, and that’s it. I also don’t know if she understands urban residents’ priorities.
Of course this isn’t possible, but if I could, I would vote for a third Obama term. I think he’s better for the U.S. economy than any of the other candidates. It drives me nuts that Congress enacted term limits on the Presidency, but not on… Congress.
If Bloomberg decides to enter the race, I’ll give him and Biden a careful ear.
Re: “…feel about Joe Biden as president? Is he preferable to Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton?”
Ummm…yes, sort of:
1) Although he IS part of the current administration, he (hopefully) does NOT carry much of the negative baggage that makes the haters hate Obama;
2) he is much more of the old-school pro-union-but-also-pro-small-business Democrat who seems ‘real’ and ‘working-class’, NOT the cold, stand-offish, snobbish, condescending intellectual type like Obama
Compare idiotic Obama-isms like “They cling to God and their guns” or “You didn’t make that” with classic Joe-isms like “This IS a big f–king deal”!
3) Sanders is interesting and refreshing, BUT can a 70+ silver-haired semi-socialist with a New York accent carry the South and other “red-states”…especially since he seems to have Zero support from Black and/or Latino voters?
4) and as for Hillary, the Republicans will “Swift-Boat” her WORSE than they ever did to Kerry! Besides the email-issues and Benghazi they will dredge up everything from the past, including Whitewater, TravelGate, and even Vince Foster! And if THAT doesn’t work they might even resort to the old ‘closet-Lesbian’ cwap and even red-state hatred for her husband. She COULD be a disaster for the Democrats.
Sadly, I think you make relevant points.
1. The “negative baggage” is that he is perceived by many as a non-American secret Muslim.
2. Many are turned off by intellectual types. Who needs a president with a strong intellect when you can have an entertainer instead? And how did that black man become so snobbish? Doesn’t he know is place?
3. An old New York Jew. That is sadly scary for many people in our great land.
4. Americans love to focus on things that don’t have actual relevance to one’s ability to do a job. Who needs to focus on actual issues when there is scandal to be had?
I’m not saying you feel this way, but there are plenty of people who get caught up in the theater and TMZ aspect of it all.
Trump, baby. Vote for Trump
i’m all for bernie! then biden, and lastly, hillary. hopefully will not come down to em voting for hillary.
I don’t think a guy who calls himself a Socialist has a prayer of winning, and I think people who think Bernie has a shot are fooling themselves. Think Hillary has a trust gap that’s a huge issue. So I prefer Biden…but not sure his heart’s in it.
Did he break up with Hilary (because she is a habitual liar, murderer and thief)And announce his run ?
I’m a leftie who isn’t a fan of Hillary. I always enjoy discussing politics with people who know how to type a sentence in English, can spell the name of the candidates, and can participate without hysterical drama.
“how to type a sentence in English, can spell the name of the candidates, ”
Then you should practice what you preach…
Can spell the NAMES of the CANDIDATES. Plurals are your friend 🙂
You mean “plurals are your friends”.
Hear, hear!
I’ve eaten at Pomodoro for years and never broke up with anyone there. Why spoil the delicious meal?
Especially now that it can be done via social media.
I was at the concert and was wondering the impact it had beyond the great lawn. The sound was quite messy, for umpteen reasons. Biden was awesome, whether he runs or not he is a gem of a human being. Don’t think this country could handle his care and honesty as he would be ridiculed for having these earnest attributes.
