The Upper West Side clearly has the finest collection of PhD’s, MD’s, RNs, Esquires, LSW’s and CFAs in the city, and now we need you to put those enormous brains to work — helping the children! (You don’t need any fancy letters after your name or pocket squares in your blazers to be a tutor, by the way.)

Three Upper West Side tutoring programs are looking for volunteers to help students. Learn more below.

The JCC is looking for tutors for its literacy and math programs. Learn more here.

Goddard Riverside is also looking for tutors. They sent the info below:

Goddard Riverside Community Center’s highly-regarded Star Learning Center is seeking volunteer tutors for the 2015-16 school year.

“We have more kids than ever before who want tutoring, but we need volunteers to work with them,” said Director Deena Hellman.

The program serves low-income students from across the city. Each tutor works one-on-one with a single student. “Our volunteers really get to know the students. They feel invested in that child’s success and they get so much satisfaction from watching these students learn, grow and succeed,” said Hellman.

Each tutor must commit to a two-hour block of time once a week at the Center, which is located at 26 West 84th St. in Manhattan. Tutoring takes place Monday through Friday after school, with evening hours until 7 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and until 6 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

High school students are welcome to volunteer, but must be in at least the 10th grade.

For more information, email dhellman@goddard.org or visit www.goddard.org.

And a nonprofit called Top Honors is looking for tutors and students: it serves 6th, 7th and 8th graders on the UWS:

For parents interested in our services, here are instructions:

The Top Honors enrollment application for the 2015-2016 school year is now available.

Top Honors is for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who can be described as under-performing in their math classroom, yet are motivated. If your child is eligible, here are the steps to begin the application process:

1) Submit an online application for EACH child you wish to enroll here.

2) Look for an e-mail invitation to REGISTER your child for an interview date

3) Receive confirmation e-mail for your interview and attend interview on time.

When we receive your application, we will invite you in a separate e-mail to register for an interview. It is by invitation only; walk-ins will be turned away.

If you have any immediate questions, please review the information at www.tophonors.org/get-math-help before contacting us at students@tophonors.org.

For volunteers interested getting involved, they may visit www.tophonors.org/volunteer.
