Screen Shot 2015-09-03 at 3.40.16 PMSay it ain’t so Insomnia Cookies! The cookie joint on Amsterdam between 79th and 80th was shuttered by the city Health Department on Monday for a variety of health violations, including evidence of mice and roaches.

That place was dirty. The customer service sucked. It was like a frat boys kitchen in there….and frat boys were making the cookies. Plus, they were not good.

Never been there, but what a negative name – especially since chocolate has caffeine.

There was once a footwear store named “Athlete’s Foot.” Yuck! Just the word smelled of sneaker juice.

I think the name was meant to conjur up thoughts of being home, late at night, not being able to sleep (with or without friends present) and perhaps having the munchies during the night – if you catch my drift.

Then name it “Slumber Cookies” or “Cookie Doughs” (doze).
Chocolate — I link with caffeine.

Good thing “chocolate” isn’t anywhere in the name then…

Interesting that the picture (presumably from file) shows them with an “A” rating posted in the window.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Is it possible that some food establishments could be counterfeiting the “Graded A” signs ???

Funny, the dough comes from somewhere else, all they have to do is pop it in the oven. It’s not that hard, people! I do like their cookies, a bit pricey though, and I wish they had coffee. If you want decent cookies (I think 3 for $2?) and a coffee I can recommend Bagel Talk at 78th and Amsterdam.

So the cookies and coffee are good at Bagel Talk ?

Their swiss cheese on a bagel was the worst that I’ve had ever had on either coast.
