They’ve been popping on and and off since late last night. It’s hard to report to the precinct because they know enough to stop for a while, sometimes as long as an hour, before resuming. It’s not nearly as bad as it was in the past, though. It used to sound like a war zone out there starting days before the 4th.

I guess the crack down will, finally happen when something goes crashing through an apartment window and incinerates the occupants.

Chances are the assholes setting off these ILLEGAL fireworks cannot spell USA– let alone find it on a map.

Welcome to New York.
This has been going on forever. Some of it is actually pretty good and conducted safely.
Get over it.

I agree guy_on_the_corner!!! When I was a kid we used the illegal sparklers in the city and friends used illegal fireworks in the city. Kids will be kids and if their adults, oh well so be it! I don’t ever remember in my 48 years hearing explosions or fatalities surrounding using these.

Anytime I hear fireworks going off, I immediately follow-up with a complaint to 311 of the incident. I’m by no means a curmudgeon or anything along those lines; I just have a serious issue with shooting off explosives when there is zero open space.

I’m not going to “get over it”, sorry.

Fireworks = OK. Fireworks at 10pm on a weeknight, coursing above the apartment buildings near CPW, rattling windows and waking my frightened 4-year-old son out of a sound sleep, despite closed windows and running air conditioners? That’s just freakin’ rude. They must realize that UWS is a largely residential neighborhood and not all of the residents appreciate it while trying to wind down for the night.
