The New York Philharmonic is celebrating its 50th anniversary of playing concerts in Central Park and they’re trying to crowd-source memories from people who have attended those concerts.
The Philharmonic has set up a website where people can write memories or upload photos. And on Tuesday, May 5, starting at 5 p.m., they will tape a group conversation at St. Agnes Library to draw out memories of the past 50 years of concerts.
“Since 1965 parks parks concerts have not only offered great music under the stars, but have also been an opportunity for family outings, reunions with friends, elaborate picnics, first dates, marriage proposals, and more. The Archives want to hear them all! Join other New Yorkers to share stories about this wonderful City summertime tradition. This recorded group conversation will be an important part of our crowdsourcing memory project celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Concerts in the Parks.”
The library is located at 444 Amsterdam Avenue, between 81st and 82nd streets.
This years’ concerts in the park are scheduled for June 17 and 18.
