UPCOMING SPRING EVENTS: SANDSATIONAL, TULIP FESTIVAL, SPRING FLING

The Tulip Festival in the West Side Community Garden.

It’s finally feeling like spring again (just jinxed it), and that means that some fun local events are on the horizon.

Sandsational is an event in Riverside Park where kids get to refill the sandboxes in Riverside Park with fresh sand. It’s happening this year on Saturday, April 11th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To sign up, call  212-870-3070, email grassroots@riversideparknyc.org, and check out the Sandsational flyer here for more information on locations.

The West Side Community Garden’s annual Tulip Festival will be held on two weekends this year — Saturday April 25 and Sunday April 26, and Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3 — at the garden on 89th street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues. The garden s open from dawn to dusk during the blooming season. More here.

Lincoln Center is kicking off a new set of kids programs with a free Spring Fling on May 9. Starting this spring, Lincoln Center will be offering 5 levels of kids’ memberships, including one that will be free. The Spring Fling, open to everyone, will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m in the central outdoor plaza at Lincoln Center. “Activities and entertainment will include a 45-minute campfire-style singalong with acclaimed children’s performer Dan Zanes at the Revson Fountain, activities including a scavenger hunt so children can explore the campus, crafts, LC Kids giveaways and additional performances in Josie Robertson Plaza.” To keep tabs on the children’s events memberships, check out this site, which plans to launch at the end of the month.

For more local events, check out our weekly events calendar.

Definitely go to the tulip festival, it is fantastic. Went last year and took some gorgeous pictures. Lovely garden to sit and relax in; very peaceful.
