TUESDAY: FULL COMMUNITY BOARD TO ADDRESS PRIVATE SCHOOL EXPANSION, SIDEWALK CAFES

The full community board is set to meet on Tuesday, and they’ll be looking at a slew of issues, including a controversial application by the Manhattan Country Day School to expand at its new location at 150 West 85th street. That proposal was reviewed by a community board committee last month, and some neighbors spoke out against it.

Also, several restaurants are seeking new sidewalk cafes, including Savory, Case Mexicana, and the Mexican restaurant replacing Citrus. Fusha is also seeking a sidewalk cafe permit, which throws doubt on our previous report that it would close to make way for a health-food restaurant called sweetgreen. Last month, a broker tweeted that the space had been leased by sweetgreen, and a spokesman for sweetgreen told us “We are very excited to come to the neighborhood.” But sweetgreen recently told one of our readers they don’t have plans to come. Other restaurants are also seeking renewals of their existing sidewalk cafe permits.

The community board also plans to discuss a City Council bill that would impose term limits on community board members.

In future, please note the correction: it’s Manhattan Country School. There is no “Day” in its name.
