We have several meetings listed on our calendar every week, but wanted to add some additional information about three upcoming meetings this week.

The first is a Vision Zero town hall to talk about traffic safety with elected officials on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.:

What: First Official NYC Council Town Hall Meeting

Who: Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Council Member Vanessa Gibson, Council Member Corey Johnson, Council Member Daniel Dromm, Manhattan Council Members

Where: John Jay College for Criminal Justice – Gerald W. Lynch Theater. 524 West 59th St., Manhattan

When: Wednesday, March 26th, 2014. 6:00PM-8:00PM

———-

A meeting on Thursday at 6 will allow business owners and nonprofits to network and discuss ways of boosting youth employment:

The Business and Consumer Issues Committee (BCI) of Community Board 7 is hosting a Business “2” Business (B2B) networking, wine reception from 6pm – 8pm on Thursday, March 27 at the West Side YMCA of Greater New York, located at 5 West 63rd Street, Parkside Room between Broadway and Central Park West.
This B2B reception will focus on “Jobs for Westside Youth”.  The goal of the reception is to create a forum to link employers with non-profit organizations that train and place students in internships and seasonal positions. During the reception, attendees will also hear remarks from newly elected City Council Member Helen Rosenthal.

There is no charge to attend the B2B event and more information may be found on the CB7 website at www.nyc.gov/mcb7.org. To register for the B2B, click here.

Another meeting on Thursday at 6:30 will look at ways to reduce pollution on the Upper West Side, which has some of the worst air in the city. Via Landmark West:

Macaulay Honors College, 35 West 67th Street
Does your building use heavy oil (No. 4 or 6) for heat? If so, your building is wasting money every year on outdated fuel. Not only that, your building is also emitting dangerous air pollutants into your neighborhood that are hazardous to everyone’s health.
Join NYC Clean Heat, the Environmental Defense Fund and LW! on March 27th at 6:30 p.m. to learn more about how heavy heating oils impact on public health and energy bills and what coop/condo boards, managing agents and tenants can do to make a difference. Even if your building is in the process of converting, please join us to learn more and share your experiences.
Not sure if your building uses heavy oil? Call 311 and ask for Clean Heat or look up your address on the Spot the Soot map.
Q&A to follow presentation.

FREE to attend, RSVP here.
Or call 212-496-8110.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
