Cibo E Vino, the long-awaited replacement for Georgia’s Bakery & Cafe on 89th street and Broadway, opened its doors earlier this week.
Michael, who sent us the photo above, testified that it is “VERY GOOD,” and he particularly enjoyed the flash-fried mushroom appetizer. The main courses were delicious too: “I had the linguine w/ clam sauce and my wife had the pear salad and veal scalopine…all was very good. Â The shrimp in white wine and garlic app looked amazing as well.”
Robin also says it’s a nice addition the neighborhood:
“They have a nice menu with prices in the $15-$19 for pastas, and entrees between $22 – 29. Â They also have salumeri type platter (which we didn’t try). Nice interior with redone bathrooms (from the old Georgia’s). Â It’s handicap-accessible. Â Plus they have a bar with space for 8 people. I ate there and the food was good, although a little pricey compared to the new Arte Pasta. The owner Elena says they will soon be opening for lunch.”
Co-owner Marjanne Motamedi once co-owned a West Village Italian restaurant called I Tre Merli Bistro.
We’ll post the menu when we get it.
Cibo E Vino is one of the 16 new and upcoming restaurants we highlighted last month.
We popped in for brunch on Sunday. The food was delicious and the owners were very nice and personable. I’m hoping for a long and successful run for them in our neighborhood!
