Xi’an Famous Foods, a growing Chinese restaurant chain known for savory noodles, pork burgers and soups, is opening its newest location at 2675 Broadway (102nd street). If all goes well with the health inspectors, the restaurant should open on December 7, Serious Eats reported today.
Xi’an already has plans to give away free food on opening day to people who print out and bring in this coupon.
New York magazine called Xi’an’s Savory Cumin Lamb Hand-Pulled Noodles the best noodles in the city: “Clumpy and ragged, they’re shaped like strips of cloth a fugitive from the law might tear into bandages to dress a gunshot wound. And yet, there is no noodle with a richer, chewier, more inviting mouthfeel.”
It’s run by 25-year-old Jason Wang and his father, who opened his first restaurant in a stall in Flushing. The wait times for the noodles at the midtown location can stretch to 30 minutes.

How appetizing!
Just the mental image I want as I sit down to eat!”
🙁
Don’t worry, Stan, you (and I and most of us) won’t be able to get near the place, let alone get a seat. And take-out is a no-no (check the menu)!
This place is amazing. The lines in Midtown always stretch on for days. Almost compensates for the news about Alamo Drafthouse.
Until that Alamo banner gets removed from the marquee I will hold out hope that ADH will be coming to the neighborhood
