Starting with a birthday tribute, Juilliard will put on a wide array of concerts this week and all of them are free.
Samuel Adler 85th Birthday Tribute
Monday, October 28 at 8 PM, Juilliard’s Paul Hall (155 W 65th Street)
Juilliard musicians perform works by the celebrated faculty composer Samuel Adler in honor of his 85th include Three Pieces for solo piano, Canto XXI for solo harp, Five Snapshots for string trio, Nuptial Scene for mezzo-soprano and chamber ensemble, Caccia for two flutes, and Quintet for piano and string quartet.

Pianist Seymour Lipkin in Recital | Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series
Tuesday, October 29 at 8 PM, Juilliard’s Paul Hall (155 W 65th Street)
Acclaimed concert pianist and Juilliard faculty member since 1986, Seymour Lipkin is best-known for his recordings of all 32 Beethoven Sonatas and “reaches lofty heights of inspiration and execution” (American Record Guide) in his performances. Mr. Lipkin will perform works by Mozart, Schubert, Perle, and Beethoven.

Wednesdays at One at Holy Trinity | Historical Performance Chamber Music Series

Home of the Bach Vespers series, the 109-year-old Holy Trinity Lutheran Church offers a historically-appropriate venue for the performance of early music. New Juilliard Ensemble founder and director Joel Sachs leads the group in works from around the world, some of which are Western Hemisphere premieres, including Korean composer Sukhi Kang’s Octagon (2012), Italian composer Stefano Gervasoni’s Froward (2011), Israeli composer Betty Olivero’s Zimaa’r II (2009) featuring mezzo-soprano Raquel González, Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz’s Incrustations (1965) with French hornist Philip Brindise, and Puerto Rican/American composer Roberto Sierra’s Concierto dá Camara (2008).
