Oren’s Daily Roast opened a little over a week ago in the former home of L’Occitane on Broadway between 83rd and 84th street, selling coffee, pastries and coffee equipment.
“Oren’s was established in 1986, and quickly developed a devoted following among coffee-loving New Yorkers,” a release from the company said. “The stores stand out from typical cafes with their mix of freshly-roasted coffee, cafĂ© beverages, teas, pastries from top-quality bakers (Balthazar, Doughnut Plant), alongside a wide offering of home coffee equipment and merchandise. The UWS location also features the latest cafĂ© equipment—including two La Marzocco espresso machines custom painted in Oren’s colors.”
“Baked goods appear to be from Balthazar, a good sign, and other packaged stuff as well,” wrote our tipster Jeff. “An alternative to Charbucks! Huzzah!”
Oren’s has another location on 112th street.
Thanks to Jeff, Ira and Ruby for the tips. We are behind in listing restaurant and cafe openings but will be posting more soon. Photo via Oren’s.
Glad to see Oren’s in the neighborhood, unlike Starbucks and CBTL they serve consistently great coffee. Went there before work every day back when they had an location in Grand Central.
