West End Avenue was closed from 64th to 66th street on Monday morning after a water main broke and flooded the street. We received the following from the city’s Office of Emergency Management:
“Due to a water main break, DEP customers on West End Ave between West 64th St and West 66th St are without water service and the street is closed to vehicular traffic. Some customers may also be affected by a steam main shutdown. The M57 and M66 bus lines are being re-routed. Expect delays in the area.”
One source said the water was gushing out around 2 a.m.

What is going with this water main. They have been working on it for the last 3 months now it breaks!
Yea really.. They’ve been digging up that one spot and then re-covering it with steel plates about once a week for months. What gives?
Living near the building site on WEA and 61, means being without water happen on weekly bases:(
all water at 120 riverside blvd on the corner of 66 is brown. the building management says they don’t know what’s going on.
