Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will kick off the Midsummer Night Swing festival Tuesday night, the start of three weeks of dance and music in Damrosch Park. Dancers of every level are encouraged to participate; from 6:30 to 7:30 you can learn how to dance in whatever style is the theme of the night, and then at 7:30 the dancing and live music begins. There are often two set of dancing, and you can particpate as much or as little as you want. Individual tickets cost $17, but there are discounts for multi-ticket passes including the $170 full-season pass. The full schedule is here.

Check out a full gallery from last year’s swinging here.

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
