A Kennedy on the Upper West Side, and more events on our calendar.

A public hearing about a charter revision at Upper West Success Academy is tonight.

Winter Restaurant Week reservations are now available.

News:
Mary McConnell Bailey
, whose family got rich from an ownership stake in those marbled notebooks kids use, gave $10 million to the Central Park Conservancy upon her death. The gift was made without pomp or circumstance. In fact, it was virtually hidden. She also gave $10 million to the NYPL. Last year, money manager John Paulson gave Central Park $100 million.  (NY Post)

Speaking of parks, the Riverside Park Fund was renamed itself the Riverside Park Conservancy. Hoping some of Central Park’s donation magic rubs off? No word yet on whether its mission has changed too.

Mayor Bloomberg compared the teacher’s union to the NRA. Contracts talks might not go so well this year. (NY Times)
