A man was shot dead at 58th and Broadway between 7th and 8th Avenues just off of Columbus Circle around 2 p.m. today, and the assailant fled the scene.

The unidentified victim appeared to be in his 20’s, the New York Times reported. “Nobody saw the guy who did it,”a witness told the Times. ”He was like a ghost.”

Update: The victim has been identified as Brandon Woodard, whose ID said he was from Los Angeles. As of Tuesday morning, the killer had not been caught. The Times has more details on the crime.

“Sources say a car drove up, someone shot the victim in the eye and then the car took off,” says NY1.

“A suspect in the shooting was seen fleeing from the scene wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and driving a gray vehicle with New York license plates, officials said,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
