HERE WE GO AGAIN: PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS TO CLOSE FOR WEDNESDAY STORM

November 6, 2012 | 4:50 PM
in NEWS, OUTDOORS
1

Just when you thought it safe to go outside again, a new storm is barreling down on New York. And that means parks and playgrounds are closing again.

Yes, this feels like a sick joke, but heed the warnings and stay out of the parks:

Due to possibility of strong winds, Central Park will be closed from noon Wednesday, November 7 until noon Thursday, November 8.

— Central Park (@CentralParkNYC) November 6, 2012

All city beaches, playgrounds and parks, in fact, are closed.

Mayor: We’re closing all @nycparks, playgrounds, and beaches effective from noon Wednesday to noon Thursday.

— NYC Mayor’s Office (@NYCMayorsOffice) November 6, 2012

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. Uh-Oh! Parks closed again! That means: empty trash cans, plus no toddlers dropping food plus no careless tourists tossing away half-eaten pretzels plus ………….
Which means myself and my brethren(including the emigres from lower NYC who got flooded out by Sandy) will just have to hit Fairway again!
And this time we’re bringing our cousins — the squirrels!
