It’s rare for a church to allow demons into the sanctuary. But the Cathedral of St. John the Divine is no ordinary church. And this Friday it will once again treat visitors to its annual Halloween extravaganza, when it turns the church’s nave into a runway for ghosts and ghouls after screening the original Nosferatu.
“Seats closest to the action are for the bravest at heart, who may find themselves directly confronted with the hooked, expressive nose of a demon, the mossy nails of a witch, or the bulging, flushed cheeks of a ghostly manchild,” the announcement says.
There are two shows on Friday — one starts at 7 p.m. and one starts at 10 p.m. Both cost $20. Get tickets here.
The church will also feature “crypt crawls” (tours of the cathedral’s crypt) and gargoyle workshops for kids.
We will have a full list of Halloween events up shortly.
