PROSECUTORS: CENTRAL PARK RAPIST ASSAULTED 2 OTHER WOMEN ON UPPER WEST SIDE

David Albert Mitchell, the homeless man accused of raping a 73-year-old woman in Central Park on September 12, assaulted two other women while he was fleeing the scene of the crime, prosecutors said on Tuesday as they charged him with seven felonies.

After raping a birdwatcher in Central Park at around 11:15 in the morning, Mitchell left the park and walked through the neighborhood, prosecutors said.

“Hours later, about 1:15 p.m., police say, he continued his criminal sex spree, groping a woman on W. 70th St., between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues. He then moved west and uptown, groping another woman at the corner of W. 71st St. and Broadway, according to court records,” the Daily News reported.

Three rookie cops eventually found him and arrested him on 78th Street and Amsterdam Avenue around 8 p.m., after noticing he matched a description of the suspect.

Mitchell pleaded not guilty tot he charges. Of course, it doesn’t help his case that he was found with the birdwatcher’s camera, according to police.

Read what the rape victim, who picked Mitchell out of a lineup, had to say about him here.

This animal should never have been allowed to walk the streets. Nice job on the part of the cops who caught him. Let’s hope he is locked away for the rest of his life. He is a truly disturbed individual.

I saw the birdwatcher in the park this past weekend, looking as I remember her. She is amazing resilient.
