Notices:
We have a new list of events up for the week. It’s a light week, given the July 4 holiday.
News:
Lincoln Center says it will make Avery Fisher Hall more wheelchair-accessible under a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department. The classical music venue had just 4 wheelchair seats in the last row on the main level. It had other seats upstairs, but the bathrooms weren’t wheelchair accessible there. The center has 18 months to make the changes. (BusinessWeek)
The 20-story “Larstrand” is rising on Broadway between 77th and 78th Street, just the latest pricey rental to hit the Upper West Side. Three-bedrooms are expected to rent for $13,000 a month. “Bath mirrors will be defoggable with the flick of a switch; a portion of mirror surface will have a television built in.” (NY Times)
A woman lost her leg in a three-car crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway around 79th Street on Friday. After an initial crash, the woman had gotten out of her car when a third car hit the crash scene. (DNAinfo)
I’m sorry I missed this…”Larstrand?” Well, there’s a great name for an upscale building – now all the new occupants can spend time telling everyone what the hell it means (although the developers are calling this a ‘working title…just a little pretentious). But here’s the best – a mirror with a TV in it! Now, who am I supposed to look at? Betthany or myself (I’ll choose me)? Nonsense like this may hopefully be the last puff in the overdeveloped real estate bubble…save your cash!
