Notices:
We continue to add to our weekly calendar — don’t fret if you’re “stuck” in the city this weekend! We’ll be adding more.

News:
Some local parents are considering entering city political races. Noah Gotbaum, the former head of the Distrcit 3 parent council, might run for public advocate, a post once help by his stepmother Betsy Gotbaum; Christine Annechino, current president of the parent council, is considering a race for Gale Brewer’s City Council seat. Gotbaum said of local parents “We’ve been completely marginalized by the current administration.” (Gotham Schools)

Mayor Bloomberg has not been much help in helping reduce the number of helicopters buzzing over the Upper West Side and the rest of the city, and maybe this is why — he was caught last weekend by an amateur videographer using his private helicopter at a helipad on 34th Street that is suposed to be shut down on the weekends. “You have to follow the rules,” Gale Brewer told the New York Times. “When you read that the mayor takes off at times that are restricted, I think it’s shocking.” (ABC News)

Democratic District Leader Mark Levine is racking up endorsements in a state senate race to possibly replace Adriano Espaillat, who is running for Rep. Charles Rangels’ congressional seat. (Politicker)
