We’ve got a new list of events up for this week, and plan on adding more events to it.
I had the great pleasure of attending the PS 84 spring fair this weekend with my kids and had a blast. Lots of great DIY games, good food, very involved parents.
In case there was any confusion, West Side Rag’s one year anniversary is this Wednesday and we’d love to see readers at The Parlour on 86th Street starting around 8:30 Wednesday night.
News:
President Obama will be on the Upper West Side today. He’s appearing on The View this morning and giving a commencement speech at Barnard this afternoon (commencement starts at 12:30). USA Today looks at his day, and the Columbia Spectator details where people can and can’t go around campus. A friend who lives near ABC studios said he was awoken today at 2 a.m. by the sound of metal barricades crashing to the ground again and again. Fun fact: Obama lived on the Upper West Side while attending Columbia.
Residents on 107th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam have been complaining about recess at the Ascension School, which is held in the street. The Post says that the residents are simply mean “old fogies.” The community board will vote on relocating recess this week. (NY Post)
The HSBC on 103rd and Broadway was robbed last week. (CBS)
Upper West Sider Nathaniel Zavin was saved by a kidney swap. Don’t you love it when that happens? (NY Daily News)
