Landmark West is offering West Side Rag readers a special deal on tickets to an event next week: “LANDMARK WEST! is having a slide lecture with John Tauranac, designer of the NYC subway map, this coming Tuesday (April 24) at 6 p.m. at Macaulay Honors College (35 West 67th Street) on “New York from the Air.” We would be delighted to have readers of West Side Rag there and would like to offer a $5 tickets (that’s $20 off!) to your followers. The promotional code for our Eventbrite page is WSRAG.”

News:
A water main break flooded the street on 77th Street and Broadway and left some residents and businesses without water on Thursday after a private contractor struck a water main. (ABC)

The 24th precinct has added officers to deter criminals, particularly at the 96th street subway station, and theft is down because of it, Capt. Nancy Barry said. (Not mentioned in the article is that the department’s own stats show a rise in serious crime, including felony assaults, in the 24th precinct through early April.) (Columbia Spectator)

The Upper East Side Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf offers frequent customers “mug lockers.” No word yet on whether the UWS locations will get them too. (DNAinfo)

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
