Hollywood has always romanticized bank robbers, even when they were not romantic or even attractive at all. But now the Upper West Side appears to have an honest-to-goodness romantic bank robber.
He brings flowers to his robberies.
All together now: Awwwwww.
Police are seeking the man in the picture above, who is suspected of two robberies in the neighborhood. On Feb. 23, the man is suspected of robbing a Chase Bank at 260 Columbus Avenue by handing the teller a note demanding money. At a second robbery on March 5, he demanded money from a teller at Banco Popular on 96th Street in a note, police said. That time, he didn’t have any flowers. How rude!
In 2010, a man named Edward Pemberton was arrested for a similar string of robberies where he left potted plants and flowers behind, the Daily News notes.
Frankly, if I was a bank robber, I would at least try to be a little more original. Like maybe leave little gems, or cute drawings I made. Anyway, if you’re going to rob a bank, don’t steal my ideas.
Oh, and if you have info on these crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
