LOCAL FOOD FEST RETURNS WITH NEW TWISTS

New Taste of the Upper West Side is back this year, and it’s gotten even bigger and more ambitious. The festival, put on by the Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District, will run from May 16 through May 19.

This year, it will feature a new event: a five-course vegetarian tasting menu from four very hot chefs: John Fraser, Dovetail; Missy Robbins, Avoce; Ed Brown, Ed’s Chowder House; and Christina Tosi, Momofuku Milk Bar.

That’s in addition to the Best of the West, a big food festival put on by 40 chefs, and Comfort Classics, a new take on comfort food from 35 chefs.

General admission tickets range from $95 to $195 with VIP tickets costing a bit more. The proceeds go to benefit the Columbus Avenue BID, which plans to undertake a big beautification project on Columbus this summer.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
