Police officer Rajinder Singh at the 20th Precinct on 82nd Street claims he was retaliated against because he didn’t meet quotas for quality of life summonses and stop-and-frisks, the highly criticized random searches that tend to target minorities. He’s filed a grievance that a board ruled is to arbitration despite the city’s objection. (NY Post)
Chinese conductor Long Yu was randomly punched in the face on West 70th and Columbus on Monday, the night before he was scheduled to lead a Chinese New Year’s concert with the New York Philharmonic. He chased the attacker down and slugged him back, then conducted the concert the next night with a shiner! (NY Times)
