Notices:
We have a new list of events up for this week. Sorry for the delay but I needed a little R&R yesterday.
News:
The 20th Precinct, located on West 82nd Street, recorded a 12.8% drop in felonies through Dec. 18, the largest drop in the city. There haven’t been any homicides or shootings in the precinct this year. Police sources give credit to Commanding Officer Lt. Biagio Cardone, who has reportedly focused on reducing crime in the Amsterdam Houses housing projects. Overall, felony crime is up slightly in the city, in part because of a change in the law that makes strangulation a felony. (NY Post)
Billionaire Russian fertilizer king Dmitry Rybolovlev recently bought his daughter Ekaterina an $88 million apartment at 15 Central Park West. But her security detail needed an apartment too, so they’re getting an $8.35 million apartment downstairs. Sorry, guys, no wraparound park views for you. But there is a marble powder room. Seriously. William Barnason, a super at 144 West 73rd Street who was convicted of sex abuse against five young girls, allegedly propositioned numerous women to have sex with him if they couldn’t pay the rent. Barnason and the landlord Stanley Katz are being sued by the U.S. Attorney. In a deposition, the landlord reportedly said he knew about the super’s criminal history and called him “a prized employee.” (NY Post)
