Local businesses have been plagued by a recent string of robberies. Among the shops hit recently were Loehmann’s, where a thief tried to snatch a $480 leopard velour clutch; Sephora, where 3 men swept a counter of Chanel perfume into duffel bags; and Le Pain Quotidien on 72nd Street, where robbers threatened employees with guns and knives, stole their cell phones and demanded $3,000 in cash. Peyton Bell, the Columbia University junior who was in critical condition after being hit by a car on Sunday morning on 106th Street, has been released from the hospital. (Bwog)
