CENTURY 21 ENCOURAGES “VIPS” TO GET A HEAD START ON SHOPPING; THE GAP HIDES ITS FACE IN SHAME

The new Century 21 in Lincoln Square is feeling so generous that it is letting special VIPs (anyone willing to give them their email address) start shopping at the discount clothing a full week early as it prepares a “soft” opening on Thursday. The new five-story megastore opens for regular folks on September 22. To become a VIP, head to Broadway and 66th street and sign a piece of paper. It is truly that easy.

The Gap a block away on Broadway between 67th and 68th Streets appeared to recoil in horror, suddenly deciding it needed a renovation and blocking off the entire front of the building, covering it in white plastic (below). The store says it’s still open during the renovations.

Don’t worry Gap, I’ll still come running to you when I need some new chinos. Century 21 can’t steal a yuppie’s heart that easily.

Thanks to Robin for the picture of Gap and the tip.
