September 7, 2011 Weather: Showers, High of 71 Degrees.

News:
Congressman Jerry Nadler, Ground Zero workers, and numerous other public officials are going to City Hall today to file a petition asking the administrator of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act to consider covering cancer treatments for people who got sick from exposure to dust and chemicals at Ground Zero. Nadler, Gale Brewer, Linda Rosenthal and other officials are also demanding the city address PCB’s in schools (including Upper West Side schools) after releasing new data about the chemicals.

Jesse Wasserman, the Westchester teenager who came to Central Park to mug people, will serve 1 and 1/3 to 4 years in prison. (DNAinfo)

Jason Schneider of Astoria is hanging out in Central Park on the mall just South of Bethesda Fountain, telling people he will make them chuckle for $1, guaranteed. Unfortunately his jokes aren’t funny. Who did the promiscuous cow sleep with? “Udderly everyone,” he zinged. (NY Daily News)

Two robbers held up West End Avenue businesses in the past few weeks with guns and masks. They robbed a 24-hour deli at West End Avenue and 64th Street, and West End Wine & Spirits on West End and 61st. (DNAinfo)
