It looks like the weather will be rainy for a lot of the weekend, except for Saturday morning and afternoon. There’s a 70% chance of rain on Saturday night, and a 60% chance of rain on Sunday. Hopefully, most of the events in Central Park and at Lincoln Center Out of Doors won’t be canceled.
If you do one thing outside this weekend…
Hopefully the weather will hold up for the big celebration of the work of author and musician Shel Silverstein in Central Park Saturday night starting at 7 p.m. If you’re feeling brave, head to the Rumsey Playfield, around 72nd Street in the middle of the park. A few of the big names that will be there include Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega, and the incomparable Richard Belzer of Law & Order.
If you do one thing inside this weekend…
You must check out the blueberry pancake eating contest at Fairway Cafe on 74th street and Broadway at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Who doesn’t love gluttony?

If you’re traveling…
Check traffic info at traffic.com for delays. As for the subway, there don’t appear to be changes directly affecting the Upper West Side, but there will be some changes for the 2 and the C in other parts of the city. Check out mta.info.
