Local police precincts are holding a National Night Out tonight to build better relationships in the community. The 24th precinct will be at the Happy Warrior Playground at West 98th Street and Amsterdam Avenue from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The 20th precinct will celebrate at Verdi Square on 73rd Street off of Broadway from 6 to 8 p.m. (DNAinfo)

News:
Turkish millionaire Ragip Ersin Akarlilar, who owns Mavi Jeans, wants to build a pool with a 3-story steel deck in the backyard of his 1874 townhouse at 83rd Street, but faces opposition from neighbors and Landmarks West. They claim it will mess up the views and historic nature of the neighborhood’s backyards. The Landmarks Preservation Commission could rule on the application as soon as today. (NY Post)

The death of Gerald Abramowitz, the designer who was mugged a couple of months ago, has now been ruled a homicide. (DNAinfo)

City budget cuts could weigh on local daycare facilities. (Gotham Schools)

Photos of the inside of Posie’s, the flower shop on Amsterdam and 78th Street where a fire broke out early Monday, actually don’t look that bad. (DNAinfo)
