Although all eyes are on H&H Bagels today as the famous bagel shop shuts its doors this week, there is some hope for foodies in the neighborhood — particularly in the northern reaches of the Upper West Side.
Today, Ryan Skeen, who was formerly the chef at Fishtag on West 79th Street, is scheduled to open a new restaurant called Il Cibreo in the spot of Campo at 2888 Broadway on 112th Street, the New York Times reported. The menu is filled with Italian staples like flat-brad pizzas, mortadella, and a tasty-sounding frito misto (mixed fried delicacies including squash blossoms, prawns, calamari and scallops). It tilts to the fishier side, with gnocchi and crab and poached prawns with bacon on the menu.
Also slated to open this week is a new Mexican restaurant called Cascabel Taqueria, which also has a branch on the Upper East Side. The new place is at 2799 Broadway on the corner of 108th Street and will serve tacos, carnitas and a full range of cocktails. For more check out Food and Things.
