Police are looking for the two teenagers above, who they say have been robbing and punching Upper West Side pedestrians, and even threatening to stab them.

Police told NBC News that the robberies appear to have begun in September:

“The string of robberies began on Monday, Sept. 23, when the teens approached a 52-year-old man [on] West 86th St. and stole his cell phone, police say.

The next day, they targeted a 17-year-old boy at Broadway and West 86th Street, stealing his cell phone before punching him in the face and running away, according to police. Less than an hour later, the robbers followed a 16-year-old boy near Morningside Drive and West 116th Street and took his iPod, punching him in the face and threatening to stab him.”

On Monday, teens robbed a 14-year-old boy of his wallet and cell phone at the subway station at 86th and Broadway.

Update: ABC News described the teens.

“The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 17 or 18 years old, standing about 6-foot-1. He was last seen wearing a white tank top with blue jeans and a black backpack.

The second is a black male, 17 or 18 years old, standing about 5-foot-9. He was last seen wearing a multi-colored long sleeve shirt and was carrying a backpack.”

ABC also said that the first and last crime both happened around 4 p.m.

If you have any info, please call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

I was walking up Broadway at about 2:00 p.m. and near 86th St, 4 police officers were talking to and frisking two kids that looked like those in the pictures. Perhaps there was a break in the case?

This is frightening no matter where it occurs.
We UWS folk often think because of the gentrification of the UWS these problems don’t exist in our neighborhood.

It just goes to show you that you have to be aware of your surroundings at all times and be on your guard.

By the way, does anyone know anything about the guy that was found dead at around 5:00 p.m. on Wed. on a bench in Verdi Sq. Park?
