Tree pits, the rectangular patches of earth surrounding street trees, are a reflection of the hyper-local street culture and community.

The goal of Love Your Street Tree Day is to encourage community members to tend to their street trees.

Local experts weighed in on where in the neighborhood to find trees that show off the leaf pigments and fall phenomena. 

In empty tree beds and patches of sidewalk, small green-and-white signs have appeared to mark where the plantings will go. 

Work will include cleaning tree beds, mulching, and general clean up work.
