SECOND PERSON HIT BY TRAIN AT 72ND STREET (UPDATED)

A second person was hit by a 2 train at the 72nd Street Broadway-line subway station just before noon, after another man was hit early this morning, an NYPD spokesperson told us. The 33-year-old white male involved in the second incident was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital on 114th Street and is listed in stable condition.

No criminality was suspected, according to the NYPD. A source tells us that the person may have been intoxicated.

In a separate incident that happened at 7:50 a.m., a 62-year-old Hispanic man was also hit by an uptown 2 train. Our source says that the first person appeared to have jumped onto the tracks. No criminality is suspected. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Roosevelt Hospital on 58th Street.

There is no reason to think the two incidents were linked, the NYPD says.

The subway station remained open after the second incident and the 2 and 3 were traveling on the local track.
