On Saturday, March 19, at 12:30 pm, New Plaza Cinema will present a screening of the Oscar-nominated documentary Attica at the West End Theatre (263 West 86th Street, between Broadway and WEA).

The Los Angeles Times called Attica, “a jarring, engrossing, and enraging reminder of how those in power will lie, humiliate, kill and cover up to retain it…one of the year’s best….”

The film will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker and director Stanley Nelson. According to a release, “Nelson recently pulled a major upset at the Directors Guild of America Awards where he won the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary for Attica.”

You can find ticketing information at www.newplazacinema.org.

“Attica” is an astonishing documentary with lots of imagery I had not seen before. Stanley Nelson is one of our finest nonfiction storytellers — terrific live, too!
If folks can’t make the event, the film is streaming on Amazon Prime as well.
