HOPPING VILLAGE SPOT “THE SMITH” SET TO REPLACE JOSEPHINA AND SUSHI A GO-GO

The Smith, an East Village restaurant that has another location in midtown, will open a big new restaurant at 1900 Broadway, the space vacated when Josephina and Sushi A Go-Go closed earlier this year. The Smith is known for relatively inexpensive American food, including big bacon cheeseburgers and pots full of mussels. Here’s the menu at the East Village location.

The new restaurant will have a 30-seat bar and seating outside, the New York Times reported today. It’s expected to open next summer.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
