MORNING BULLETIN: MIRACLE DOG JUMPS OFF ROOF, FALLS 4 STORIES, AND SURVIVES

December 12, 2011 Weather: Mostly Sunny, High of 39 Degrees

    Notices:
We have a brand-new list of events up for this week, and will be adding to it more later today.

    News:
Kai, a 2-year-old Shiba Inu, fell four stories off the roof of his West End Avenue building, but survived. His owner brought him to the roof for a walk and he started jumping from roof to roof over a ledge. But then he chose the wrong ledge and fell. Police retrieved the pup, and he was taken to BluePearl Veterinarians. They put him in the ICU for three days and he emerged alive, but unable to see out of his right eye. The Upper West Side has a remarkable number of animals that have survived stunning falls, including cats that survived 14-story and 20-story falls.  (NY Post)

Community Board 7 is considering cracking down on the electric bikes that delivery guys use. (DNAinfo)

A penthouse at The Laureate on 76th Street sold for $9.7 million. (NY TImes)

Devi Silvia, the woman who attempted to drown herself and her baby in the Hudson River last year, entered a plea of insanity. (AP)

If you didn’t see our story over the weekend, an unidentified 20-year-old Columbia student was in critical condition after getting hit by a car on 106th Street and Broadway.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
