The 10th anniversary of September 11 is coming up on Sunday, and events are being held throughout the city in remembrance of the terrorist attacks. We’ve listed 10 events below that give New Yorkers different ways of commemorating the events, almost all of them in and around the Upper West Side. Many firehouses will also be open if you’d like to stop by.

1. The Time Warner Center is exhibiting more than 50 pictures taken by Joe McNally of people who lived and worked near Ground Zero, including firefighters, priests, rescue workers and other people affected by the attacks. It runs through Sept. 12.

2. The New York Philharmonic is playing a free Remembrance and Renewal concert at Avery Fisher Hall on Sept. 10 at 7:30, featuring Mahler’s Symphony Number 2, Resurrection. You can pick up tickets beginning at 4:00 pm on the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center.

3. Photos of the attacks are on view at the New York Historical Society at 77th Street and Central Park West. The free exhibition runs through April 1.

4. The New York Chamber Music Festival and Symphony Space present a free concert at Symphony Space’s Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at 7 p.m. on 9/11 hosted by BD Wong. The New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera will perform and various luminaries plan to be there, including Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and John McEnroe.

5. New Yorkers will form a human chain up the West Side from Battery Park City early Saturday morning, linking their hands together. To join the chain, register here.

6. The Cathedral of St. John the Divine will hold events all day on Sunday, including a special concert by The Portland (Oregon) Gay Men’s Chorus.

7. The Film Society of Lincoln Center is hosting two free movies on Saturday and Sunday. The documentary 9/11 will show at noon on Saturday and the film 25th Hour will show at 7:45 on Sunday, with a special appearance by Spike Lee and Edward Norton. Tickets will be given away at the box office an hour before the screenings.

8. On Sunday at 11:15 a.m., the Society for Ethical Culture on 64th Street and Central Park West will hold a special community meeting to reflect.

9. The Global Interdependence Movement will host a symposium on Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m. at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza. Howard Dean and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend will speak, among others. Register here.

10. Choreographer Jacqulyn Buglisi will direct dancers from Buglisi Dance Theatre, the Juilliard School, the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance, the Ailey School and Ballet Hispanico in a special free performance at 8:20 a.m. on 9/11 in the central plaza at Lincoln Center.
