The neighborhood will be hopping once again this weekend.

104th Street Block Fair: On Saturday, you can shop for gently used clothing, jewelry, and household items at more than 60 stalls; browse more than 1,000 used books and CDs; bid on gift certificates and merchandise; select a home baked dessert; take a chance on a raffle worth 100’s of dollars; enjoy refreshments and live music; and help keep a neighborhood safe and beautiful. (Located between West End and Riverside on 104th. Open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM). More here.

Neil Young, Foo Fighters and Black Keys Play Central Park: Neil Young’s big concert for charity is this Saturday on the Great Lawn. Click here for our story on the event. It’s not clear whether there are still tickets available.

Street Fair: The Bloomingdale Area Coalition will be hosting a street fair from 96th to 103rd Street on Broadway on Sunday.

Wild Bird Fund Open House: On Sunday, from 1 – 6 pm you can tour the Wild Bird Fund’s new Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center.  In the landmark storefront at 565 Columbus Avenue (between 87th & 88th streets), over 100 birds await your visit.  Licensed wildlife rehabilitators show rehab cases and techniques, featuring live birds and animals.  Children will enjoy animal arts and crafts and the opportunity to meet some wild babies.

John Caputo: The American philosopher will be at Rutgers Church on 73rd Street this weekend. Check here to see when he’ll be talking.

Film Talks: This weekend, there will be free talks as part of the New York Film Festival: On both Saturday and Sunday the talks start at 7 in the Film Center Amphitheater. More here.

We have a full list of local events up on our calendar.

Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
