Big Brothers/Big Sisters is looking for volunteers for this Saturday’s Race for the Kids in Riverside Park.

The U.S. pole dancing championships will take place this weekend at Symphony Space in the same location as a famous annual reading of James Joyce’s Ulysses. “The top 10 pole artists in the US will compete in front of a panel of judges who are professional aerialists, gymnasts, fitness experts and professional dancers.” says Symphony Space. While Symphony Space president Cynthia Elliott told DNAinfo “they’re not particularly aligned with our programming,” the organization wanted to rent out the space and “we think they’re terrific.” Now, if only they would read Ulysses while people pole dance.
