UPDATE: Monday, September 28 at 6 p.m.: The popular 7th Street Burger Upper West Side location is temporarily closed due to a gas issue in the building, Sarah Milner, a marketing manager for 7th Street Burger, told West Side Rag in an email on Monday evening.
The outpost at 424 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 80th and 81st streets, has been shuttered since Saturday.
“We should be back open this week! There was a gas issue in the building, so we were required to close while the issue was investigated,” Milner told the Rag. “It has since been resolved and we are awaiting final approval to open!”

The popular 7th Street Burger outpost at 424 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 80th and 81st streets, is temporarily closed.
The reason for the closure remains unclear.
The fast-casual burger spot has been shuttered since at least Saturday.
“Any idea why 7th St Burger on Amsterdam Ave is currently closed?” Genny Glembotzky wrote to West Side Rag in an email on Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
As of Monday at 2:30 p.m., Google lists the Upper West Side eatery as “Temporarily closed.”
The Rag visited the 7th Street Burger location around 11 a.m. on Monday and found its silver metal gate completely down. However, we returned around 2 p.m. to find the gate up, but the business still shuttered.
After knocking, a man unlocked the front door and then directed the Rag to ask our question to a different person near the back of the burger joint.
“Why are you closed?” the Rag asked.
“It’s all good; we’re just closed for a few more days,” responded the man, who did not provide his name.
“Can you tell me why you’re closed?”
“No, not right now,” the man said.
There was no yellow Health Department closure sign on the 7th Street Burger’s front door and the city’s Health Department portal says it received an “A” in its most recent inspection in March of 2026.
7th Street Burger has more than 10 locations across New York City and is popular for its smash burger and late-night hours. The hamburger chain did not immediately respond to the Rag’s request for comment.
