It is not every day that a former President of the United States dines at an Upper West Side restaurant, but that is what happened earlier this month.
Bill and Hillary Clinton grabbed dinner at Verdello NYC, which is located at 994 Columbus Avenue, near the corner of West 109th Street.
“We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton for dinner,” Ari, a manager at Verdello’s, who did not provide a last name, wrote to West Side Rag in an email on Tuesday. “They were gracious, warm, and a pleasure to host. It was an exciting evening for our staff and guests, and a proud moment for our restaurant.”
“As a neighborhood establishment, it means a great deal to be chosen by such notable visitors, and we wanted to share this special occasion with the community,” Ari added.

Verdello is an Italian restaurant that specializes in cuisine from the southern portion of the country and serves up wood-fired pizza, pastas, and more.
After a little bit of online digging, it appears that Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State, New York Senator, and First Lady of the United States, was in the city to attend the 24th Annual Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards in Tribeca on April 23rd.

She was right about everything. All of it. Every word.
My favorite pasta/pizza place – more reasons to visit..
I wonder if the restaurant waived the cake-cutting fee.
She is a professor at Columbia. She is in the neighborhood every day.
One of my favorite local spots. Ari & his charming family and staff always make us feel welcome.
