The Iliad and the Odyssey are required reading for all Columbia freshman.
As is basic English grammar: “all Columbia freshm*E*n” (or “EVERY Columbia freshman”).
Or has Columbia done away with that prerequisite too?
I didn’t go to Columbia. I am not that smart. I am simply stating a fact. I know Columbia has a rigorous core. Correcting my iPhone typo on a news site is petty and small and contributed nothing to the discussion.
But the Aeneid by Virgil is the first large work to tell the whole story of the Trojan Horse. It is only referenced lightly in book 8 in the Odyssey. I would hope that Virgil is also required reading at Columbia.
It is. Fourteen books a semester.
Funniest one yet!
It’s a cartoon y’all! Lighten up… Laugh a little!
Saw The Odyssey?
Back in the 80’s, we actually had to read The Odyssey and The Iliad in 9th grade. Yes, 9th grade.
These UWS prep schools are no joke. Thank goodness there was this guy Cliff who would let you read his notes:)
We too read them in the last year of elementary school 6th year at the age of 11/12 years old.
Cant get the thumbs up for August’s comment about Cliff.
SAW the Odyssey is a hoot.
How many of them knows about the Odyssey?
LOVE! wish i could hand deliver to the columbia admin
