    September 18th through 20th

Juilliard Outdoors: PLAZAWORK 2026: Saturday, Sept. 19th starting at 11 a.m. with events throughout the day and weekend; Lincoln Center’s Hearst Plaza (30 Lincoln Center Plaza); Free

Part of Juilliard’s Fall Festival, this day of activities will include an outdoor, artist-guided movement session in which audience members will work with artists to create a collaborative performance.

There will be six pianos on site, and a host of other recitals and offerings, including performances by the Juilliard Orchestra, free pop-up Juilliard extension classes, and a day (this Sunday) focused on “creative aging” and how the performing arts aid longevity.

Columbia Lions Home Football Season Opener: Saturday, Sept. 19th at noon, Wien Stadium, 533 West 218th Street; tickets start at $13

The Lions will welcome the Lafayette Leopards in their home opener this Saturday, which is also “Northern Manhattan Appreciation Day” and “Heroes Day.” Residents of Inwood, Washington Heights, and Harlem can access up to four complimentary tickets to the game, and so can active military members, veterans, and members of the FDNY and NYPD. The first 50 ticket holders to redeem their tickets will get a free bucket hat.

Sacred Splendor at the Jewish Museum: Opens Friday, Sept. 18th; museum hours are Thursday to Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with late hours on Thursdays, open till 8 p.m.); 1109 Fifth Avenue at East 92nd St.; free admission on Saturdays, tickets here

The Jewish High Holy Days come to a close Monday night, with Yom Kippur taking place Sunday evening through dusk Monday. The Jewish Museum, with free admission on Saturdays, has plenty of high holiday-related objects on view, along with a first-of-its-kind temporary exhibition of Jewish and Christian sacred art from an exceptional collection in Prague. If it feels like an appropriate time to contemplate the interconnected histories of objects of faith across six centuries, consider spending an hour or so with these rarely seen European treasures. Highlights include medieval Jewish-owned ceremonial and personal objects, like jewelry, torah ornaments and ritual items, some of which were buried for survival or otherwise hidden for centuries during periods of persecution. On view nearby are responses to this history by contemporary artists, including British potter and author Edmund de Waal.

”Sounds of Loss” at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine: Sunday, September 20th and Monday, September 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; 1047 Amsterdam Ave. at West 112th St.;  Free with admission

In honor of World Peace Day on Monday, this audio exhibit by German artist Philip Gröning will be free with admission for visitors to the Cathedral on Sunday and Monday. The installation uses a simple clicking noise to remind visitors of the lives continually lost to global conflict.
