It’s Father’s Day weekend, and there’s plenty to do on the Upper West Side!
June 13th to 15th, 2025
Pride Family Picnic, Saturday June 14th at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Ave. at 112th Street; free
Pack a picnic, play games and enjoy The Queer Big Apple Corps Marching Band at the Cathedral’s annual Pride Family Picnic. All are welcome! The Band is scheduled to perform at noon at this free, inclusive event. Reservations aren’t required, but can be made here. Bring your own blanket.
“Bee My Friend” Nature Workshop, Saturday June 14th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Riverside Park at the Field House at West 102nd Street; free
Riverside Park Conservancy staff and special guests will lead a program that includes arts and crafts, storytelling, live demonstrations and a nature-focused workshop for kids on the critical role bees play in our ecosystem. Learn about the lifecycle of a bee, bee anatomy, pollination and sustainable practices that support native bee populations. Seating is limited; first-come, first-served.
Much Ado About Nothing, Sunday, June 15th from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. at St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Ave. at 112th St.; free
The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit celebrates its 15th year with this free, bilingual, 100-minute, family-friendly production of Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy. Chair seating will be available, but It’s limited, so arrive early if you need one. General admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no ticket distribution and no reservations are taken.
Celebrate Father’s Day, Sunday June 15th
If my dad was in town, I’d take him out to the ballpark. The Mets are at home against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday (tickets here) at 1:40 p.m. at Citi Field. The first 15,000 fans get a free Hawaiian shirt! So, I’d keep an eye on the weather and if it’s not gonna rain, pick up last-minute seats on StubHub or SeatGeek and get there early for the giveaway. Drop your Father’s Day ideas in the comments!

Just “Noting” – The list says the Much Ado performance is on Saturday, but the Cathedral website shows it on Sunday.
Thanks, fixed.
Indeed it does.
One may also participate in much ado about SOMETHING Saturday afternoon in the same vicinity: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/794052/
Another great thing to do this weekend: tomorrow’s “No Kings” mobilization! @ Bryant Park, 2-4 p.m. https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/784466/
Gotta hand it to Libs, they complain about the cost of a Military Parade to honor the 250th Birthday of the US Army of which I am a veteran, they plan protests which will almost certainly result in violence against the Police. The security needed for Libs to throw a tantrum will cost much more than the parade in DC.
That being the main NYC rally, of course, but as I mention above there’s also the Columbia event, more in keeping with our “neighborhood” theme. But whatever the venue, the main thing, as always, is to show up.
Hopefully our weekend doesn’t include LA-style riots!

Surely we can all hope “law enforcement” doesn’t go on a thuggish, illegal, unprovoked rampage here as they did in LA!
